UMASS LOWELL: INSTITUTIONAL CAPITAL PLANNING & PORTFOLIO EXECUTION

SELECTED PRIOR EXPERIENCE · JOHN PUGH

Before founding Pugh Capital Partners, John Pugh worked directly for UMass Lowell as part of the university’s facilities and planning organization. In that role, he worked with the Director of Planning, the CFO, and other university leaders on a comprehensive capital and real-estate strategy supporting a major period of institutional growth.

A key component of Pugh’s work was the South Campus Master Plan. He also helped execute the university’s broader capital strategy through real-estate acquisitions and dispositions, facility and portfolio evaluations, capital budgeting, development planning, and the leasing of incubator and industrial-prototyping space.

The work supported departmental expansion and student-housing growth through both acquisitions and new development. Pugh also participated in public-private initiatives involving the hockey arena and parking facilities, as well as planning and coordination with the City of Lowell.

The broader university capital program encompassed approximately $1.3 billion in new construction, capital projects, and deferred-maintenance improvements.
